Seattle has a muscular, well-known crop of male rock photographers, but when our Hannah Levin needs a last-minute photo for her Rocket Queen column, she often turns to three local ladies: Jenny Jimenez, Laura Musselman, and Sarah Joann Murphy. Levin has now curated a show, You Say Goodbye, I Say Hello (through Sept. 20), to lift those images off our pages and onto the wall. Each photographer is represented by a set of photos from a single show. Musselmans shots of Death Cab for Cuties homecoming concert in Bremerton are rich with color, shadows, and light. Murphys photos of Mudhoneys recent secret gig at the Sunset capture movement and energy like vintage grunge-concert images. Jimenezs black-and-white photos of Sleater-Kinneys 2006 farewell are instantly iconic, comparable to Charles Petersons Nirvana photos or Lance Mercers portraits of Eddie Vedder. All three women imbue their subjects with grit and raw emotion. Try capturing that with yer cell phone! Tigertail, 704 N.W. 65th St., 781-8245, www.tigertailbar.com. 21 and over.
