The French army knife. Because they give up easily, you see.First the Los Angeles City Council picked Google’s GMail over Microsot’s Outlook. Now, the French Army has decided to use Thunderbird, Mozilla’s Outlook alternative, after determining it was more secure than Microsoft’s.The French say they were compelled to use Thunderbird because it costs less and its open source design allows them to write their own security code. Unlike Microsoft, which gets uncomfortable when people suggest their products might be improved upon.In other words, the French surrendered to the idea that software doesn’t have to be proprietary. Oh, and would you look at that. Couldn’t get through one whole post about the French army without taking a cheap shot. Qu’un ane!
