Damn, we sure love the idea of voting. Hey, how about we just vote, for no particular reason, about the Viaduct? That’ll be fun. We should do that again sometime.Needless to say, when offered the chance to select, by vote, who oversees voting–well, that’s something we can’t pass up! In fact, more people voted in November in favor of getting the chance to vote for an Elections Director than bothered to actually vote for that Elections Director once they had that chance! We will not be denied the opportunity to not bother voting on something.According to King County records, almost 450,000 citizens cast their ballots in favor of King County Charter Amendment 1, making Elections Director an elective office. According to King County estimates today, a little more than half that number of citizens then took advantage of the voting opportunity they had given themselves. Whereupon they simply voted back into office the person who’d been appointed in the first place.Democracy rules.
