Following his decision to skirt (a.k.a. cross) a firefighters’ union picket line in Providence that Obama administration officials wouldn’t, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels yesterday said he and other mayors will eventually meet with the White House, in part to discuss distribution of stimulus funds. Here’s the interesting part:”We want a good solid agenda that will allow us to get into the real substance of the recovery act,” Nickels said, according to the Providence Journal, reporting on the annual gathering of America’s mayors. “There needs to be investment where there is the biggest bang for the buck.” This is the same mayor who is seeking to use Obama stimulus money to purchase $412,540 worth of new devices to issue parking tickets in Seattle – which would add no new jobs and stimulate only City Hall’s coffers. Oh. He probably meant the slang definition of bang. Rhymes with buck.
