Kudos to the Legislature and Governor for making it official today: Washington will now grant gay domestic partners all the rights it grants straight married couples. (Of course, this doesn’t apply to federal rights and benefits.) After passing the Senate 30-18, the measure passed the House today 62-35–those numbers would’ve been unthinkable a decade ago–and Gregoire said she’ll sign it. Perhaps next session we can do what Vermont did (minus a Gubernatorial veto).
