David Horsey is a fantastic cartoonist, and we get that caricatures such as the one on the left of editorial writer D. Parvaz are prone to exaggeration. But in today’s print edition, in a break from the norm, this caricature does not appear beside Parvaz’s Saturday column (which has appeared infrequently since she earned a fellowship at Harvard, and will appear even less frequently once the P-I shuts down). Instead there’s an actual headshot of Parvaz, which bears absolutely zero resemblance to this “don’t fuck with me” caricature. Real-life Parvaz, it turns out, resembles a meek middle-school boy. We suspect the caricature is sassed up so she appears tougher when engaging in her usual tear-down of tabloid luminaries, such as she does today with the zany mother of octuplets who’s been dominating airtime on Extra for the past month. Anyhoo, go pick up the Saturday P-I, if only to see Sassy D’s harmless face peek out from behind the cartoon curtain.
