So long, Derrick Cartwright, don’t let the door hit you on the way out! Though it’s losing its director (quitter! short-timer! LeBron!), and though it took a big financial hit with the loss of office tenant WaMu upstairs (Nordstrom finally leased the space—whew!), the Seattle Art Museum continues to muscle its way forward. The big Picasso and Nick Cave shows were both hugely successful. Its Olympic Sculpture Park is at peak season right now. And it’s a cultural anchor for downtown, convenient for the tourists to find when they pour off the cruise ships and are disgorged from the Duck. No cab ride required.
