This week Three from Buty Winery of Walla Walla: an ’03 semillon/sauv blanc blend (around $21), ’03 Connor Lee Vineyard chard ($28), and the ’01 Rediviva ($40, Buty’s proprietary cab-syrah blend of fruit from Champoux and Boushey Vineyards). Also: limited quantities of the ’02 Roza Berge Vineyard chard at around $30. Basel Cellars ’02 CV syrah was blended from fruit from Portteus, Lewis, Papper Bridge, and Spofford Station vineyards; $48 from the winery only: www.baselcellars.com. Novelty Hill winemaker Mike Januik puts forward an ’03 Klipsun Vineyard sauv/semillon blend ($18), his ’02 Connor Lee Vineyard chard ($20), and two ’01 Columbia Valley red blends: merlot (12 percent cab, $18) and cab (12 percent merlot, $20). Sept. 18–19 Betz Family Winery holds its annual open-house celebrating the release of its 2002 syrahs, La Cote Rousse (big, lush, powerful) and La Serenne (smooth, supple, but tangy). Only a little over 200 cases of each was made, so even at $40 a bottle they won’t be on the market long.
