Seattle’s Marx Foods is pimping its new blog by throwing a contest. Leave a comment on the blog by noon on Monday, January 26, to enter. The winner gets one-quarter pound of Italian black truffles. That’ll perfume an awful lot of pastas, risottos, chickens, foie gras terrines — anything you’ve got sitting around your fridge. The subject line on the press release, though? “Whiff of Truffle Wipes Economic Blues Away.”Um, I like truffles, but a quarter-pound of them is hardly going to cover a week’s health insurance premiums for my friends who recently lost their jobs. If you believe that claim, these people want to hear from you.
