Some of The Maldives, playing Sunday footballIf you’ve been on The Maldives’ MySpace recently, you might’ve noticed that they’ve had “Mt. Fuji” listed under “Record Label” for at least a week or so — but I just got official word from Mt. Fuji label head Mike Jaworski that The Maldives have signed to his label and will be releasing a full-length on Mt. Fuji, Listen To The Thunder. The band will, however, precede that release with a four-song EP called Tequila Someday. The EP will include one single from Listen To The Thunder as well as two tracks that are not on the album. That drops August 25, and to celebrate, the band’s doing three Hot August Nights shows at the Tractor Tavern to celebrate their album release as well as the Tractor’s 15th anniversary. Congrats, Maldives– you’re one of Seattle’s best bands and you’re on one of my favorite local labels. Can’t wait to hear those recordings…
