Last week the Society of Professional Journalists handed out awards to college journalists in our region, recognizing two SW interns.T.J. Tranchell, who covered heavy metal for Seattle Weekly last summer, and is now the opinion editor of The Argonaut at the University of Idaho (he remains in our clutches as SW’s Moscow Bureau Chief), was awarded first place for column writing. Way to go, T.J. Meghan Peters, a student at the UW, and an editor at The Daily, took first place for breaking news. Ms. Peters joins our ranks as an intern later this week. Meghan, just because you’re an award-winning intern now doesn’t exempt you from the task of taking out Fefer’s compost bin.
