But judging by his failed attempt at robbing a bank, the likely cause was laziness.On April 20, the 37-year-old Shoreline man allegedly walked into the University Village Key Bank, handed a teller a note saying he was armed and walked out with cash. At the time, Hemmerle was wearing a black hoodie, a sartorial choice that earned him the nickname “The Grim Reaper Bandit.”He probably should have worn a mask instead.After reviewing surveillance footage, a Key Bank employee recognized Hemmerle as a regular customer at the bank. A positive ID that was then backed up by Hemmerle’s ex-wife and former co-workers.SeattleCrime says that Hemmerle has a history of drug and burglary charges. He’s currently being held on $100,000 bail.
