Cinco de Mayo festivities did not keep me from voting for Adam Lambert via text message 20 times last night. I was five drinks and several bites of a burrito in when I abandoned the party to take in American Idol’s rock ‘n’ roll themed episode. Lambert’s song of choice: Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” The glamorous Idol frontrunner took the stage decked out in black leather, jeans, and smoldering black eye makeup. He snarled and shrieked his way through the song with ease, once again bringing to mind the chilling vocals of the late Freddy Mercury. Hot damn! You can check out the performance here. Tonight’s elimination will bring the competition down to three singers. Lambert’s got nothing to worry about. He’s got this week’s round in the bag. Anybody who has the balls to cover Led Zeppelin and actually succeeds in doing so without looking like an absolute tool gets an A+ in my book.
