Word on the street and in my inbox is that the Elliott Bay Bookstore Cafe is changing hands/concepts–not the bookstore, just the cafe–which has gone through several variably successful incarnations over my tenure as a lump in its dimly lit corner. This cafe is one of my favorite places to hide on rainy days; the subterranean library vibe gives me the feeling of being back in college. I’ll just drop a few hints as to the new concept: 1.) Tamara 2.) savory pies. Hopefully the word “meat” will also be involved. Screw you Caffe Umbria and your Brezhnev-era supply of panini!
