So, Fresh Wax took the week off last week, not because there was any dearth of new vinyl, but simply because … well, it’s summer. Everyone deserves a little vacation, right? Anyway, the new wax didn’t slow down all that much, so we’ve got a jam-packed edition for this week, with releases from last week and this week making their way into the listings. The biggest news is definitely from Cave In, who released their first new, post-hiatus music in years … and decided to release it only on vinyl. Bad. Ass. The music’s pretty great too, with the band charting yet another sonic course that combines their miasmic metal with just the right amount of hardcore aggression. Indie fans will definitely want to pick up the new Fiery Furnaces, as the vinyl edition is insanely limited to just 1500 pieces, and each includes a download code. On the reissue front, I’m personally stoked about new, 180-gram pressings of Moondog’s three late-’50s Prestige albums, but others might be equally excited by the fact that Oasis’ entire catalog is now available on vinyl.
