Hundreds of people rallied at Westlake park Saturday. The rally was one of many held concurrently around the country, sponsored by grassroots organization Unite Against the War On Women. Speakers included WA. State Senator Sharon Nelson, AFL-CIO officer Lynne Dodson, Mayor of Tacoma Marilyn Strickland, octogenarian activist Dorli Rainey (the woman who was infamously pepper-sprayed at Westlake’s Occupy a few months ago), WA State President for the Coalition of Labor Union Women Verlene Jones, and poets Melissa Page, Dr. Karen Entrantt, and Imani Sims.Photos by Marianne SpellmanPublished on April 29, 2012
