Congratulations to Washington’s very own and first in a bazillion years distiller, Dry Fly Distilling, for winning a Double Gold for BEST VODKA at the 2009 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the international pageant of booze. This is a big deal anyway, but I think this is an even bigger deal seeing that Dry Fly’s vodka is distilled from 100% Washington wheat. The Washington Cask Beer Festival happens this Saturday at the Fisher Pavillon in the Seattle Center. To celebrate the 10th year of the festival, they will tap no less than ten versions of the famous Herbert’s Legendary Cask Festival Ale, with five dozen different cask ales in all. I think the number you’re looking for is 522-8800 (Orange Cab). Two sessions: 12noon to 4:00pm, 6:00pm to 10:00pm, and tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door. Visit website for more details.
