A 17-year-old Waterville girl was making mac and cheese when her brother asked her if she was using real butter. When she told the 21-year-old that no, she was using margarine, the two got into an enlightened debate over the relative merits of the churned stuff versus the chemical substitute. Or, as the Wenatchee World puts it, a “culinary argument.”We’re not sure who won the battle. But based on the police report, it’s clear who won the war.The brother and sister started shoving each other. Whereupon she must have calculated that, given the size advantage we assume he had, she needed a sharper implement. When he called 911, the brother told police his sis tried to cut him in the neck with the serrated edge of a barbecue spatula. Which some might call assault, and others might call just a minor misunderstanding between siblings.Police arrested the girl and charged her with fourth-degree assault. Of course, being the kind of goober who tries to slit her brother’s throat because he doesn’t like Parkay, she failed to show up for her court date and now has a warrant out for her arrest.
