There are scores of stickers on parking meters and such downtown promoting a national day of protest on October 5, whereas people fed up with the Bush regime are being asked to forego work and other activities to voice their opinion on, well, how pissed off they are. In short, the goal of the grassroots observance is to “drive out the Bush regime.” That’s great, but here’s a good question: drive them where? Are Dick and Dubya supposed to survey this massive protest and up and quit? Is Congress supposed to immediately push for impeachment a month before mid-term elections, when it would reek of lame political opportunism? Look, I’m all for citizens’ right to protest, but a little reality-based focus always helps.
