This Friday night, the much heralded (and at times controversial) Red Bull Big Tune beat battle is taking place at the War Room. 12 of the city’s finest hip-hop producers will be squaring off against one another and trying to wow audiences with their beats until someone is declared victorious. It’s a great concept that local hip-hop visionaries J. Moore and Vitamin D first put together back in 2004 and it keeps growing year after year.Tonight, there’s a pre-party of sorts for the entire event happening at Vera Project with J. Pinder, The Physics, and Spaceman performing. I just got word that DJ Battle Cat will be on hand as well. They’ll also be premiering a video showing last year’s winner working in the studio with Nas. It should make for a good event and aspiring producers and MCs should definitely be in attendance. The viewing party this evening is free, all-ages, and takes place from 6-8 p.m.
