Word just broke that Wazzu is paying off the University of Hawaii in order to cancel the football team’s scheduled 2011 trip to the Aloha State. But fear not, Coug fans: Wazzu is honoring its commitment to face the Rainbow Warriors at Qwest this Saturday (Wazzu has played an annual game in Seattle for the past several years, although typically against lighter competition). But you know who the impending Cougar invasion is bad for? People who want to avoid swine flu; Wazzu recently made national news for an outbreak on campus. In other Cougar news, the Coug-related headline of the day goes to the Seattle Times, which, in a staff editorial extolling the virtues of Seattle’s de facto Coug week — culminating in the aforementioned game — rolled with “A Cougar Invasion (Two-Legged Division)” (the online headline is different). Two-legged? Our minds immediately raced to Linda Evans prowling for dudes at Daniel’s.
