Life imitates art, but only to an extent. Under cover of night, Amazon swooped in and deleted copies of 1984 from its customers’ Kindles, predictably drawing comparisons to that novel’s surveillance state. Then the company issued a very un-Big Brother apology, and a high-school student sued them. Now they’ve settled the suit, and have agreed not to delete their customers’ books–unless their customers haven’t paid or unless a court orders them to. So, as this writer noted, if anyone’s going to be Big Brother, it’ll be Big Brother. Plus, the role just doesn’t suit a guy who looks like this.Speaking of the Kindle, the Ivies aren’t having it.
