FacebookBushnell lied to us about his degree.As Publicola discovered, Chris Bushnell, a special advisor in Mike McGinn’s office making $110,000 per year, has lied on business cards and presentations about having a Ph.D. He also lied to SW about it.In Sepember 2008, Ron Sims was blaming King County’s $90-million budget deficit on a Tim Eyman initiative capping property taxes at one percent. Bushnell disagreed and created a presentation arguing that the actual problem was hiring too many county employees and paying them too much. He identifies himself on the presentation, dated Aug. 15, 2008, as “Christopher Bushnell, PhD”. In an interview about his presentation, I asked him where he got the degree and in what; he said the University of Washington in Economics.In the story about the two men’s dispute over the county budget, we referred to Bushnell saying he “holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Washington.” Apparently, I should have checked that out.
