It’s been a while since these pages have provided a good dose of Portland envy, that unlikely phenomenon in which residents of the region’s larger metropolis drool with jealousy at the infrastructure and enlightened urban planning of the smaller one. Shit, with the impending arrival of light rail–you’ll be able to take it to the UW in 2016!–it was almost as if we’d finally come into out our own. Then Portland goes and does this. A bridge exclusively for transit, bikes, and pedestrians. Meanwhile, as Seattle Transit Blog notes, we’re looking to build a new 520 bridge that can’t accommodate the light rail we’re starting to build. Well, at least we have major league soccer and baseball. And it looks like we can say we picked the right player in the 2007 NBA Draft. Oh, wait, never mind.
