Talk about random. But according to a press release that just came to me an hour ago, the headline above is true. In an unprecedented move, Pearl Jam has given permission to CBS to use 16 yet to be determined hits from their catalog for the two part finale of Cold Case. It’s the first time Pearl Jam has done this, and the first time Cold Case has used music exclusively from an artist in more than one episode. Apparently in the past (and I wouldn’t know this because I don’t watch a lot of television), the producers of the show have used music from one artist exclusively for an entire episode. Artists such as U2, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Tim McGraw, etc., have been selected. But this is the first time they’ve done so in a two-part episode and it’s cool that they chose Pearl Jam for this. The two part finale airs at 9 p.m. on May 3rd and May 10th. I don’t catch much on CBS except Letterman and college basketball, but I will say Cold Case is a good show. This might actually make me tune in, but we’ll see.
