Kurt TriplettWith people jumping into the first open race for King County Executive since the position was created in 1968 and so much speculation about who will fill his shoes when he’s gone, you’d almost forget that Ron Sims is still in charge at the county. He is, but the show must gone on once he leaves, and names have started rolling in for possible replacements. On the list so far, according to the PI, Sims’ Chief of Staff Kurt Triplett (giving validity to our earlier shameless rumor-mongering) and former Seattle mayor Charles Royer (which certainly wouldn’t hurt his son Jordan’s bid for the City Council). The PI also reports that Kathy Lambert, a Republican and one of only two members representing the most of the rural residents, nominated former Republican Council Members Louise Miller and Steve Hammond. While the position is technically non-partisan now, let’s not kid ourselves, the current council, which makes the final decision, knows exactly who the Dems are and will be putting one of them in charge.
