Our rendition flights hit many of the hottest destinations! (click to enlarge)The Lazy B may be lazy when it comes to deadlines for the Dreamliner, but when the CIA says “Fly kidnapped suspects somewhere we can torture them,” the company (through its subsidiary, Jeppesen) says, “Yes, sir!” and “How high?” Which, not surprisingly, isn’t cool with the UN High Commission on Human Rights. The Commission’s “working group on the use of mercenaries” recently concluded a visit to the US, and in its summary, wrote that it had “collected worrying information on the possible use of a private military and security company in rendition flights” and that “Congress should launch an investigation on the use of [private military and security contractors] on rendition flights.” Of course, investigations don’t seem all that likely when the US government (including the Obama admin) has been trying to have lawsuits against Jeppesen dismissed so as not to expose the ugly workings of the government’s torture scheme (authorization of which occurred at the top.) Maybe these guys could pay Boeing a visit.
