In seven years, Broadway should have a light rail station–with fighter-jet art. Until then, it will have construction, and the P-I relays the fears of local business owners and residents for what that will mean in terms of dirt, noise, and giant holes in the ground. Sound Transit will no longer have to apply every two weeks for a variance to make that noise. Oh, and you can begin having your say on what you want the development around the station to look like at a public forum on March 25th.Meanwhile, Seattle congestion was down 28% in 2008, which was actually a pretty standard figure for congested metropolitan areas. And despite all the money we think we’re spending on our transit, we’re really not spending that much money on our transit. And our light rail doesn’t have that many stops. Of course, that’s expecting that the routes are constructed as planned, which House Transportation chair Judy Clibborn may be trying to thwart to protect Mercer Island’s express lanes.Could car tab taxes save the underfunded ferries? Meanwhile, could King County use ferry money to save the buses?Do trolley buses beat SLUTs? This guy thinks so. This guy doesn’t.Finally, the Senate says yes to the tunnel, but will Frank?
