Bread, soft boiled duck egg, pickles, and fried salty cod balls ($7).This might be my ideal breakfast, which really seems more like a plowman’s lunch. It’s every taste except sweet on one succinct plate. (Though cod fritters and waffles has a nice ring to it.) The Japanese are big on pickles for breakfast, and salted fish isn’t much of a stretch for the AM. Smith also runs a duck egg sandwich and steak with grits for brunch, along with burgers (smart). I highly recommend a pitcher of mimosas. Smith, 332 15th Ave E., 709-1900Brunch Sat-Sun 10:00am to 3:00pm
