Arts collective Artifakt has organized a hip-hop roster that includes headliner Sleep of Oldominion, host Gatsby of They Live! and Cancer Rising, and local up-and-comers Scribes, Rockwell Powers, and Tacoma’s Life Cycle, as well as several others. If you’ve never attended an Artifakt event, then this edition (scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, at Nectar; cover is $5 before 10 p.m. and $8 after) is as good a time as any to get acquainted with the group’s style. The crew combines edgy, if pricey, art with, you guessed it, live music in a way that gives equal time for both. Bonus: drinking is encouraged. Aerosol wizards Aerub, Charms, Keger, and Video display paintings of their wild style lettering on Nectar’s upper level with a live graffiti mural by two of the featured artists on the outside patio.”
