Hemmingway fans get the name and the rest of us will likely get the food as Renee Erickson alums Rachel Johnson and Joe Sundberg are gearing up to open Manolin on Stone Way. Slated to open in mid-December, the restaurant will feature Northwestern themed food with a dash of Latin-inspiration. Chef Alex Barkley, also an Erickson alum as sous of The Whale Wins, will man the pass and bring us dishes from the wood fired oven. Game on Walling-mont!
If you have been invited to a slew of holiday parties or family events but are generally useless in the kitchen then you’re in luck. 21 Acres in Woodinville is giving a class on pie-making on December 2nd. And they aren’t just focusing on the sweet apple pies your grandma used to make. They are also hooking you up with the intel on how to make savory pies like Stout Beef Stew which is sure to put a smile on someone’s face. For $25 you get knowledge and the hopes of high praise for your newly found pie-making abilities. Oh, and you take home the pie you make in class. Sweet! (Or savory…)
If you are one of the lonely souls missing friends and family from far-away lands and have nowhere to go tomorrow then you are in luck. Because this town knows how to treat visitors and solo diners alike. Any of these fine establishments will treat you like a king or queen tomorrow and give you a belly full of food, drink and laughter so check them out. You could do worse than treating yourself to a fine meal at Agrodolce, Local 360, The Comet, Seastar, Golden Beetle, Bell & Whete, and Lost Lake Cafe. Go, meet some new friends, don’t be sad, watch some football and gorge yourself.
