That’s not actually the headline of the press release I just received, but it’s a lot more interesting than the headline of the press release I just received. That headline, in actuality, is: [Larry] Phillips introduces resolution to cut passenger ferries, use tax capacity for bus transit instead.I love buses. Really I do — take ’em every day. But I love ferries more; they’re as inherently northwest as acres of clams and yeasty microbrew. Plus, Phillips is way late to the party with this frontal assault on Dow Constantine, so he can’t even say he led the way.Says his spokesperson: “Since you’re from West Seattle, I can tell you that suspending the ferry district funding is a tough decision – Larry’s been an advocate of ferry funding for a long time. But with the Metro deficit for 2010 jumping an additional $24 million, tough choices have to be made. And, when looked at in the context of the entire county (who are all paying the property tax for KCFD), Metro service is the priority and serves the most number of people.”Great, but that priority just cost you 80,000 votes, that being the population of the Isle of West Seattle.
