The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta reports that former UW and Seahawks quarterback Brock Huard will be getting his own show as a part of KIRO 710’s move to an all-sports format. Local fans are no doubt familiar with Huard from his quarterbacking exploits, but my favorite Huard moment occurred off the field, when I shared an elevator ride with him in a UW dorm. I arrived at the elevator bank to find him already there, all 6’5″ of him, wearing his UW Athletics-issued sweats and singing–with feeling, and without headphones–U2’s “With or Without You”. He didn’t let my presence bother him, either, as he continued with the song as we boarded and ascended, and after I got off–I could hear him as the doors closed.I know little about the dude’s broadcast skills–he’s done some TV work–but that lack of inhibition can’t hurt. Sing your way to the top, Brock!
