As noted extensively in today’s special West Seattle Weekly, Alki Beach has a lot going for it. It’s got an unobstructed view of the downtown skyline, volleyball on the sand, a mini-Statue of Liberty, and laid-back watering holes like the Alki Tavern and Celtic Swell. But what it lacks is a really hip, high-energy spot for late-night burritos and tequila (we love you, Cactus, but you don’t rock quite hard enough to fill this void). Enter El Chupacabra. The Phinney Ridge favorite’s owner, Aaron Wright, tells the West Seattle Blog’s Tracy Record that it plans to open a second location on Alki Avenue sometime in March.”I grew up in San Diego on the beach, and it reminds me of the beach area over there. I just think it’s a great location,” says Wright, whose second child will occupy the former Casa Feliz space.
