Victor the pit bull deserves some sort of edible medal.Amber Melena was putting away some groceries in a Kirland parking lot Friday night when a man wrenched open her car door. Melena was spooked. Her pet pit bull, Victor, was not.Victor was rescued from an illegal dog-fighting operation in Graham 20 months ago. Most of the two dozen dogs found with him have been put down. But thanks to months of rehabilitation, Victor had managed to survive and had been rewarded with a place in Melena’s family. A gift he returned by scaring the living daylights out of the would-be carjacker.Victor let out such a large “woof” that the man threw himself backwards and fell on his ass. A stumble that gave cops enough time to arrest him. Interestingly enough, it was also the first time Melena had heard her dog bark.In a comment on KOMO’s story, she says that Victor, like his fellow fighting dogs, had had the bark tortured out of him, since barking dogs make it easier for police to find them.
