Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio, known best for his fantastic falsetto and fantastic beard, will swing through Neumos this evening in support of his new solo album Rain Machine, released last week on Anti- Records. The gents of TV On The Radio are taking time to do their own thing after completing touring for Dear Science, and the track “Give Blood” found on the Rain Machine’s Myspace page is very much in the vein of TVOTR’s new work: unapologetically poppy with shadowy distortion, ghoulish screeching, handclaps, and Malone’s transcendent upper vocal range flexing on some optimistically sinister lyrics. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think it was a TV On The Radio song, so tonight I look forward to seeing whether Rain Machine offers anything new; if not, I won’t necessarily be complaining.I also just saw on Twitter (don’t knock it) that today you can buy two tickets for the price of one for the show tonight (they’re $12) at Moe Bar, to the immediate left of the Neumos box office, at any point today. $6 to see one of Brooklyn’s finest? I’d get it there.
