Ahhhh… the sun is out and there’s brand new vinyl on record

Ahhhh… the sun is out and there’s brand new vinyl on record store shelves. That’s what I called a perfect Tuesday in the summertime. If you’re a fan of vinyl, it’s a perfect day to go hunt for gems new and old. There are a bunch of cool new releases out today, especially local ones like Modest Mouses’ No One’s First and You’re Next and the Cave Singers’ Welcome Joy. And as you should already know, the Cave Singers are playing an in-store at Easy Street Records in Queen Anne tonight at 7 p.m. After the jump, vinyl columnist Jason Ferguson, gives readers plenty of info on all of the new vinyl and reissue packages that are in stores as of today. So, are you as tired of hearing about the 40th anniversary of Woodstock as I am? No? Well, dig your brown-acid-stained fingers into Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music, a five (yes, five!) LP collection of (most, but not all of) the dirty-ass weekend’s music; the deluxe box set – issued on Rhino/Warner Bros – also comes with a book. It’s out this week.Topping the list of excellent new releases out on wax this week is the debut album from hotly touted Florida indie-psych duo Blind Man’s Colour; Season Dreaming is filled with dreamy space-pop along the lines of Animal Collective and Deerhunter, and is so good that even Kanye West had to acknowledge the group’s awesomeness. The new one from Pissed Jeans – King of Jeans – is also out on wax today from Sub Pop.On the reissue front, fans of bombastic alt-rock should be stoked to pick up the Muse catalog. Origin of Symmetry, Showbiz, Black Holes and Revelations, and Absolution are all being reissued today by Warner Bros. as 180g, double-LP sets.A little less hi-fi, but perhaps tons more essential is a monstrous four-LP box set on the Monk label that collects nearly everything ever recorded by Charley Patton. You’re Gonna Need Someone When You Die isn’t cheap, but this Delta Blues material has never sounded better.New Releases:The Antlers:
