Voters on Election Day approved allowing the county council to draw up qualifications for elected offices. They’re not wasting any time. Today, the council unanimously set requirements for the new elected elections director post. (The one that nobody wants.)Among them:*Can’t hold an office in a political party while serving as Director of Elections*Can’t have worked for, or been paid by a company that makes elections-related machinery.*Must earn certification as an elections administrator within 30 days of being elected as well as meet continuing education requirements. Deadline to file to run for the position in the February special election is Dec. 12.
