Mickey Avalon at The Showbox [Interview]: On his success and his daughter: aEœItaE™s one of those things whereaE¦ like if youaE™re poor and you get a little bit of money, itaE™s definitely a lot better than being poor. I have a daughter, and I kind of try to put most of my focus on her... but I mean until my daugtheraE™s 18 and out of the house and hasnaE™t gone crazy, I canaE™t really say IaE™ve pulled it off because I still donaE™t know what the damage or the repercussion is going to be from all this. But sheaE™s a good kid aE” like to her thereaE™s things that are appropriate and inappropriate and what I do is inappropriate for people her age.aE
Mickey Avalon at The Showbox [Interview]: True to form, Mickey Avalon made out with the girls in the front row, spit water into the crowd and was accompanied by two scantily-clad dancers who may or may not have been actual prostitutes. The music itself was unreal and unruly, but an extremely sold-out and intoxicated Showbox seemed to be more concerned with the glam-rapperaE™s bizarre presence. They were thoroughly entertained.
Sir Mix-a-Lot and my (not so) big butt: I got into the office this afternoon to the news that Sir Mix-a-Lot (!) was hanging out in our conference room. What the fuck? I wondered. I now have a picture that is totally worthy of being my new Facebook profile default photo.

aEœMan Up Bitch:aE the New aEœNo FearaE: Kris Bjork's full-time business is an embroidery company, Logos NW, which she runs out of her home. But in her spare time, the West Seattleite makes and sells clothes that sport a slogan spotted on pickup trucks around the city: Man Up Bitch!
Last Night: Joshua Radin & Missy Higgins at The Showbox: To be honest, I wasnaE™t even really planning to stick around for Missy HigginsaE™ set, but I found myself captivated by her presence. Her strong voice and pure melody conveyed a distinct depth and soul. IaE™m glad I did too: Radin came on stage at one point for a duet of mutual performer favorite Patty GriffinaE™s aEœLong Ride Home.aE
Last Night: Joshua Radin & Missy Higgins at The Showbox: Watching Radin practice his art of aEœwhisper rockaE was thrilling. The dulcet tones of his voice were as good as I could have hoped, and the subtleties of his picking were beautiful to hear but entrancing to watch.
Death, Parks, Democrats: City council member Nick Licata: I'm glad the win was by such a large margin. He has a mandate.
