According to a new study out of the UK, “one in ten joggers have sex at least once a day and three per cent of joggers said they have sex twice a day.” Oof. So where does that leave the rest of us? Well, this same study asked people who never run how often they went at it and one in four reported they were down to once a month. As luck would have it, I often run to catch the bus or the liquor store before it closes, so I am not part of this hard-up demographic. Phew. But since a rather raucous pair of personal trainers moved in next door, the connection between physical fitness and fuckery has been made painfully clear. Last week’s “Gossip Girl” was pretty much ruined by their howls of pleasure and my accompanying simpering tears of envy. The Brits found all these people to have sex with out on the track, with a quarter of them admitting that flirting was part of their exercise routine. Only they call it “flunning.” Sorry, Limeys, like “fetch,” “flunning” is never going to happen. Another group who having more sex than you are I are teenagers who text a lot. According to a study out of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, “Teens who send more than 120 texts a day are more likely to have had sex or used alcohol or illegal drugs than peers who text less.” These kids are also “more likely to get into physical fights, binge drink and misuse prescription drugs.”And according to a recent story on Time.com:Other studies have tied teen texting to risky or lewd behavior. A Pew Research Center study found that about one-third of 16- and 17-year-olds send texts while driving. And an Associated Press-MTV poll found that about one-quarter of teenagers have “sexted” — shared sexually explicit photos, videos and chat by cell phone or online.Though all the scientists are quick to point out here that correlation does not equal causation. Some kids are just chatty–there’s nothing particularly arousing about texting. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going out for a flun run.
