Bremerton City Council said thanks, but no thanks, to a proposal from Mayor Cary Bozeman that would have been the beginning of the end for the only two bars (we don’t count Anthony’s as a “bar”) left downtown, to make way for a public plaza. The most vocal opponent of the bill, South Pacific Sports Bar owner Mary Jo Rose, told the Kitsap Sun newspaper: “We have a lot of work to do. We want to make the city council proud of us and make the people proud of us.”
