This oyster from Penn Cove Shellfish, LLC, won the bash's prestigious 'most beautiful' award. According to company officials, this is the seventh or eighth time their oysters have won the award.
The 'most beautiful' oyster reveals herself, causing a brief scandal amongst the event's attendees. Fun fact: The man who grew this oyster, Diz Schimite, won the national oyster shuckingcompetition about 25 years ago.

Good seafood is as intrinsic to Seattle as bad weather and strong coffee, a fact celebrated by perennial Seattle Weekly “Best of Seattle” winner Elliott’s Oyster House at its 18th Annual Oyster New Year Bash. The event, held on Nov. 6, featured food, live music and a contest to find the “best looking” oyster.
