5. Zayda Buddy's 5405 Leary Ave. N.W., 783-7777You can't say you've been to Zayda Buddy's until you've had their Tater Tot casserole. This creamy baked beef hot dish ($9.99) is topped with tater tots and cheddar. Zayda's loves their tots. Not only can you order them as a side, you can find them on most of their breakfast pizzas.

4. Skylark Cafe,3803 Delridge Way S.W., 935-2111Poutine tots? You bet! At the Skylark in West Seattle, you can order tots with cheese and a side of gravy for $4.50 -- $2.50 during happy hour. The gravy is a little lumpalicious, but damn tasty with a cold beer.

3. Smash Wine Bar,1401 N. 45th St., 547-3232 Smash's 'Pot Tots' are Yukon Gold taters that come with a generous dollop of creme fraiche sprinkled with chives and bacon. They are awesomely delicious. The tots are $7, but you can score them for less than $4 during happy hour.

Nothing like tots to pair well with a nice aged red.

2. 5 Point, 415 Cedar St, 448-9993This is where you go to get sober food. You know, greasy burgers, omelets and of course, tots. You might not see them on the menu, but the 5 Point's got 'em, slathered with so much cheese and chili, you can barely see the actual tater tots. This enormous plate of sobering sustenance can't be beat. Add a little hot sauce and this is just about the best late-night snack you can get for $7.25. Hell, it's one of the best breakfasts or lunches you can get for that price.

1. Heartland Cafe, 4210 S.W. Admiral Way, 922-3313Yeah, they're as delicious as they look. The fully-loaded tater tots ($6.99) at Heartland Cafe and the Benbow Room are just like nachos, piled high with cheese, bacon, and sour cream. They deep fry their tots to make them extra crispy. These tots are so good that despite a little over-cooked cheese, the dish still manages to take the number one spot on this list.
