Overall, despite some minor inconveniences, say employees and commuters alike, the opening of the Light Rail system has gone smoothly.
Allison liked the ride. She took the train from Beacon Hill and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was.
Tom was annoyed that the ticket machines don't take cash, but he said the station employees were quite helpful.
Treva was waiting to get on the train for the first time. She was excited and, as a frequent bicyclist, optimistic about space in the train for bikes.
Bill Elmelund enjoyed the ride, saying the train is quick and efficient, though figuring out how and where to pay is difficult.
Trent Larsen called the experience beautiful. He had been waiting since the '70s for a light rail.
Clint's experience of the train was pretty good, though he agreed with many others that there are kinks to work out. Abigail seemed nonchalant.
Valerie Washington is a native New Yorker, so she is excited about Seattle's transportation additions, but she was a bit confused when she didn't see any turnstiles in the station. Washington was a part of the advertising campaign for the Light Rail, and her photo was plastered on the side of buses with the line, I've seen the future.
Dave, left, took the train to Tukwila to see about a job and was pleased that it was a quick ride. He was impressed that there are two bike racks per car and that the light rail is reasonably priced. Tate, right, praised the system for being electronic, good for the environment, and having nice service.
Patrick, left, and Emir work security at the station. With the startup of the light rail, they've all been doing more work. Patrick is concerned about folks in Rainier View now that the 42 bus will be canceled because of the light rail.
Alisa said the light rail was fun and makes Seattle feel like a big city, finally.
Conor, left, said he plans to take the train partway to the airport next week. Kevin Sharp, middle, was impressed with the cool art at the Beacon Hill station and that it smelled of new paint. Kurt, right, said the train is convenient, having come downtown from Beacon Hill.
