For too long, Seattle’s once-proud jazz scene has been largely confined to Jazz Alley and Tula’s, two admirable yet monotonous downtown institutions struggling to keep distant memories of the Central District aflicker. And Greta Matassa’s great, but Greta Matassa’s also been around for a while. Enter Cafe Racer, the Roosevelt Way upstart that has nurtured young jazz musicians to a point so boiling that The New York Times took notice. It’s enough to forgive them their scooter fetish.
