There are several options the modern teen boyfriend has when presented with a persistent suitor to his lover. He can confront the boy, let him know that the girl is taken, and recommend an appropriate friend or sibling of hers who is available. He can also lay out his evidence to the young woman as to why he’s obviously the superior option, and let the chips fall as they may. And then, of course, he can smash up the dude’s car with a machete and send a message to every other would-be beau that if they come calling, they do so at their ride’s risk. We’ll let you guess what choice this 16-year-old from Kennewick made.The incident went down Friday on the 1000 block of South Washington Street in Kennewick. The 16-year-old was apparently hanging out at his girlfriend’s house when her old boyfriend showed up to say “hi.” New Boyfriend didn’t like that, and naturally, he chased off Old Boyfriend with a machete.After he left, New Boyfriend supposedly started texting Old Boyfriend, telling him he was all manner of female reproductive organs and he should come back and fight. He did. But New Boyfriend had a bunch of friends with him, so Old Boyfriend ran off again.While he was gone, however, New Boyfriend allegedly put the machete to use on Old Boyfriend’s car, causing “severe damage,” say police.The cops caught up with New Boyfriend later and arrested him.Impressive.
