Matt Barreto, a University of Washington political science professor, just did that when he rated his student-performed Washington Poll as the most accurate of the Patty Murray-Dino Rossi campaign. To be fair, Barreto has the math to back up his cocksurety. His most recent poll on Oct. 28 was only 0.4 percent off what the votes actually returned. The other top three pollsters were YouGov and Marist.And in a race that saw polling results diverge by as much as 15 points amidst charges that some firms (cough–Rasmussen–cough) were skewing their results for political purposes, a solid, accurate poll is more than welcome. Attaboy, Dr. Barreto. Not that we needed to tell you.
