I don’t know that The Melvins’ influence on pop music can be overstated. Were it not for their sludgy sounds coming out of Montesano and Aberdeen in the 1980s, would have have had Nirvana, and a generation of folks inspired by ’em? It’s worth considering when we note that the band’s 19th album, The Bride Screamed Murder, released June 1, is the first of the band’s albums to crack Billboard’s top 200 chart, coming in at … 200! To achieve this milestone, the band sold just under 3,000 copies of the record. Congratulations, dudes!
