http://streettreatswa.com/And you thought the ice-cream truck was a brilliant idea: Street Treats, a new mobile dessert truck, hits the streets of Seattle starting this afternoon.”Street Treats started because I have a major sweet tooth,” says its mastermind, Diane Skwiercz. “I had this idea about a mobile dessert truck two years ago, and kind of put it aside as I was looking into another sweet opportunity. Then the economy crashed, and I decided to put both ideas aside.” It wasn’t until last May that Skwiercz decided to pick up her original idea and go for it.Skwiercz says her truck is environmentally friendly. “The appliances run off of deep-cycle batteries, and the hot-water tank and sink run off of an inverter. Street Treats is going to be using all compostable materials. I tried to use as many local businesses as possible when purchasing items and sourcing out products.”You’ll find Street Treats in SODO, Harborview, South Lake Union, Belltown, and Rainier Valley. The truck officially launches tomorrow at noon on the corner of 9th and Cherry. Today, however, Skwiercz will have her truck parked for a few hours at 415 Westlake in South Lake Union starting at 12:30 p.m.. Hurry!
