Mr. Box is said to be disappointed with his employee’s demonstrated lack of critical thinking.Michelle Miesner was in debt and needed cash to support her family. So the 33-year-old assistant manager at a West Seattle Jack In The Box came up with a plan. A really stupid plan.Meisner’s first blunder came in her choice of co-conspirators. She asked a co-worker, Lamar Cort, if three of his friends would stage a robbery then share the loot with her. Cort’s buddies knocked over the restaurant on February 8. But because they’re the kind of guys who don’t think twice when asked to commit a felony, they predictably stiffed Meisner on her cut of the $7,000 in stolen loot.Meisner’s second mistake was the commitment she showed to her plot. According to police, she told Cort that, in order to strengthen her innocent-bystander credentials, she wanted his friends to shoot her during the heist.Thankfully, more intelligent heads momentarily prevailed. And the maiming plot device was shelved in favor of a much more predictable punch in the eye. Meisner’s master plan was eventually undone by an anonymous tip. And when police questioned her, she not only copped to the fake robbery, she also admitted to stealing $2,000 from the store over the course of a year, and another $700 in cash that had been blamed on a co-worker who was subsequently fired. She’s since been arrested and is facing first degree robbery charges.
